OnlyFumes take

Extra Pulse works because the black pepper and orange blossom opening feels modern and clean. The bourbon vanilla keeps the mid-wear smooth without turning it into a gourmand. The amber, woody notes, and patchouli drydown gives it a wearable masculine base. Performance is solid enough for office and daily use, even if it is not beast-mode. For me, this is a practical budget clean scent more than a dramatic statement fragrance.

02

How it wears

I would call performance about 6 to 8 hours of total scent longevity, around 2 to 3 hours of projection longevity, and roughly 3 to 4 hours of sillage. I would wear this to the office, casual nights, mild weather, clean daily outfits, or situations where I want to smell good without thinking too hard. Gym safe? Yes with one light spray because the orange blossom, amber, and woods stay clean, but I would not overspray the black pepper in heat. In the collection, this sits in the modern designer-clean lane, so it overlaps with other easy blue or musky ambers but still has value. I also care about how the performance fits the actual use case. A clean summer scent does not need to behave like a winter amber, and a darker night scent does not need to be gym-safe to be successful. If it projects forever but becomes annoying, that is not a win. If it sits closer but smells clean, balanced, and useful for the right situation, that can still be a good performance result. The value is good because the profile is so wearable. Extra Pulse is not the most exciting fragrance in the batch, but it may be one of the easiest to recommend to someone who just wants to smell clean and put together. I would buy it for usefulness, not for shock value. The value conversation is also where I separate 'cheap' from 'worth buying.' A low price only matters if the scent still gives me a reason to wear it, and a familiar DNA only works if the bottle is filling a real gap. For Extra Pulse, the value depends on whether someone wants this exact Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Le Parfum-style lane and understands the tradeoff. I would rather call that clearly than pretend every budget inspiration is automatically a must-buy.
