OnlyFumes take
40 Knots is a salty marine-woody fragrance that smells more yacht club than shower gel. The sea water, salt, and green notes give it a coastal opening, but the cedar and woody notes make it feel polished and expensive. It has strong presence and about 8 hours of longevity from the profile I am working from. This is not the safest basic aquatic, but it is one of the more luxurious sea-themed scents. For me, Xerjoff 40 Knots lands at MY SCORE 8.6 / 10.

Scent journey

Performance is strong. The profile I am working from shows about 8 hours of longevity with strong sillage, and that makes sense for how this wears. It has presence, especially early on, but it is not loud in a messy way. I would not overspray this in heat. Two or three sprays feels more like the right move if you want that refined salty-woody trail without turning it into too much. Best time to wear it is spring and summer, especially warmer days, vacations, dressed-up casual outfits, dinner by the water, or anytime you want a marine scent that feels niche and expensive. WHO IS THIS FOR? 40 Knots is for someone who likes marine fragrances but wants more depth than a basic blue freshie. If you want citrus, shower gel, and easy gym-bag freshness, this is probably not the safest blind buy. If you like salty woods, green notes, cedar, sea air, and fragrances that smell like a place instead of just a scent profile, this is absolutely worth testing. It is refined, it is unique, and it has that Xerjoff polish where the bottle, theme, and scent all feel connected.
My final take on Xerjoff 40 Knots is that this is one of the more interesting marine fragrances because it does not stop at fresh.

OnlyFumes review
If you are new to fragrances, this is how I would build the collection. Do not start with hype. Start with purpose.
OnlyFumes review
If I had to sum up the market right now, I would say the hottest fragrances are not all trying to do the same thing anymore. The old blue-fragrance lane is still alive, but it is no longer the whole conversation. Sweet masculine gourmands, modern oud, skin scents, extrait versions, and value fragrances with real projection are all fighting for attention.

The Classic is a clean gentleman-style House of Sillage fragrance with aromatic citrus, warm amber wood, smooth musk, and polished dressed-up versatility.
